Since last few weeks, we are getting the complained that when engineers are trying to configured users account in Outlook with POP3 configuration, its keep asking for user name & password. But with same user name & passwords user is able to check their mail through Outlook web access. In some of our site, users are able to download messages through pop3 account but this account was configured long back. Kindly advise.

Regarding the profile: just reconfigured or recreated? If recreating the Outlook profile doesn't work, try recreating the Windows user profile. In the profile, under User accounts, password, there are saved passwords?A.

And after giving the correct username/password, there are able to download the emails? In AD, these users are POP3 enabled? I think the Exchange has POP3 enabled, since others can download their emails...A.

Hi,As i told you earlier, POP3 is enabled on the server & some users are able to download their messages.Users who are not able to download theire messages throuh pop3 are able to check their mail through Outlook web access with same username & password.Chetan

I understood that. But what I asked is that when they try to download their emails using POP3, and they are asked for username/password, after introducing them the emails are downloaded or not? Or they are prompted again and again for name/password?The other question was that these users are POP3 enabled in AD?A.

1. The password change is successfull? Here:http://www.petri.co.il/enable_password_changing_through_owa_in_exchange_2003.htm(at the end) appears that you must open some ports on firewall.2. The user can log on to Windows with the new password? "Just" Outlook forgets to change the password to the new one?A.

I should try the next scenario: the user changes the password in OWA on one computer, goes to another - where he wasn't before (or delete his/her Outlook profile), logs on with his new password, configuring Outlook with Pop3.A.
